Your Vision, Our Priority
Regular eye examinations are vital for monitoring the health of the eye and overall well-being. During the appointment, the need for spectacles is assessed alongside detecting early signs of eye conditions for example Glaucoma, Cataracts and Age-related Macular Degeneration. Additionally, eye examinations can reveal health complaints such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Routine tests ensure potential problems are identified and treated early, safeguarding your vision. It is recommended that you have an eye examination every 2 years but more frequently if you have a family history of glaucoma, are a diabetic patient or over 70 years of age. Children are seen annually or more frequently if they have rapidly changing spectacle prescription.
Here you can find specific information on the services we offer
-
Our thorough eye examination takes 30mins, we may need to do additional tests after this for example visual fields. Our optometrist’s have a vast experience and use this to tailor the eye examination for each patient.
-
We recommend our patient’s have an OCT scan alongside their regular eye examination to increase the earlier detection of eye conditions. The Heidelberg Spectralis is frequently used in the local Hospital Eye Services due to what the machine can offer.
-
We supply many brands of spectacles to suit every budget and taste. If you have something specific in mind then please discuss with one of our Dispensing Opticians. We also supply sunglasses with or without prescription.
-
We offer a wide variety of contact lens options for example, daily disposables, 2 weekly and monthly soft contact lenses. We also offer an after-care service for rigid gas permeable contact lenses (RGP’s). There are so many options available when fitting contact lenses and we aim to fit spherical/Toric (for astigmatism)/multifocal contact lenses. Book a contact lens appointment to discuss the options available to you.
-
This service is available if you are a patient registered with a Lancashire & South Cumbria GP.
CUES enables patients to be seen in community optical practice for urgent assessment of acute ocular presentations, thereby reducing the burden on the hospital eye service.
Presenting conditions will typically include :-
Acute visual changes – flashes and floaters, visual distortion, sudden or transient vision loss/reduction, field loss, and diplopia.
Ocular discomfort – painful, red, sore, sticky, watery, itchy, dry, or irritated eye(s) or eyelid(s).
Abrasions and foreign bodies – known history of low velocity, non-penetrating, and nonchemical injury.
Other presentations requiring urgent clinical investigation.
We offer same day appointments for our patients, please call us to arrange an appointment.
-
We provide checkup appointments following your cataract surgery with the local NHS provider. We incorporate an OCT scan with this appointment to aid diagnosis of post cataract complications. You normally need an appointment 4 weeks after the surgery date.
-
If during your eye examination there are suspicious findings for example raised IOP(Intra Ocular Pressure), suspicious visual field, you can have a further appointment, under the NHS to further investigate these findings.
-
We fit all spectacles supplied by our practice at no charge to the patient. We can also offer a repair service for example new nose pads, solder repairs. Please bring in your spectacles and we can advise if the repair can be made and the cost involved.
-
We would highly recommend this option for children who are becoming myopic (short-sighted) as the research shows this will help to slow down the progression. We currently offer Stellest lenses in spectacles and Mi-Sight contact lenses. We have fitted many children with these options and have seen a reduction in the progression of myopia.
